Our Impact

The State Forests Trust In Action

Oregon's state forests are a testament to nature's resilience and splendor. At the State Forests Trust of Oregon, we aim to ensure these enchanting lands are available for discovery and enjoyment for generations to come. Your support is crucial to turn this vision into reality.

The State Forest Trust is overseen by a volunteer board of trustees who guide its efforts to ensure Oregon's cherished state forests continue to thrive and provide joy, solace, and recreation for all who visit. The board includes neighbors, recreational users (hikers, bikers, ATV users), fishers, and people from the forest industry. We are united in our vision of a Oregon where we all understand, value and care for our forest legacy. We are building on our success in creation of the Tillamook Forest Center and expanding our work across the state.

Join us in this endeavor. Together, we can shape the future of Oregon's outdoor legacy.

Tillamook Forest Center Fund

Built with support from the Trust in 2006, The Tillamook Forest Center is a special place to develop a deeper connection with Oregon’s forests through experience and exploration. Located in the heart of the Tillamook State Forest, the interpretive and educational center showcases the legacy of the lands, the impact of the Tillamook Burn and the public spirit behind a monumental reforestation effort that left a permanent imprint on Oregon history while also shaping sustainable forest management today.

Unique Opportunities in a Unique Setting

We are pleased to continue to support programs and visiting exhibits that draw over 60,000 visitors a year to this forest-based learning center, located 50 miles west of Portland and 22 miles east of Tillamook on Oregon Highway 6.

The Center includes a climbable, 40-foot tall replica of a forest fire lookout tower and a dramatic 250-foot-long pedestrian suspension bridge across the Wilson River to the Wilson River Trail and nearby Jones Creek Campground.

No other place in the Northwest provides the forest-based learning opportunities found at the Tillamook Forest Center. Consider a donation today!

State Forests Recreation Fund

Oregon's state forests are a playground for nature lovers, a respite for those seeking tranquility, and a classroom for outdoor enthusiasts. Each year, they warmly welcome thousands of visitors who enjoy a variety of recreational activities, from hiking and mountain biking to horseback riding and camping. Our forests provide a diverse landscape for hunting and angling enthusiasts, as well as unique challenges for off-highway vehicle users.

But recreation in these dramatic, expansive forests requires safe and available facilities. The State Forests Trust’s Recreation Fund helps enhance campsites, trailheads, day use areas as well as trails to enhance the outdoor experience.

Recent examples of the good work your contributions made possible include:

  • Expansion of the Peninsula Trail

  • Extend the Wilson River Trail

  • Visitor use monitoring on Black Rock Mountain Bike Area

Whether you're an avid hiker, a mountain biking enthusiast, a family that loves camping, or someone who simply enjoys the quiet allure of nature, your gift to the State Forests Recreation Fund ensures that Oregon's state forests remain a treasured destination for all.
