Connecting People to the Wonders of Our State Forests

The State Forests Trust of Oregon is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to helping Oregonians and visitors enjoy and appreciate our state forests. We help fund improved access for fishers, off-road vehicle enthusiasts, hikers, and people just wanting to experience the wonder of Oregon’s beautiful natural heritage (or cool off in a mountain stream on a hot day!)

In addition, the State Forests Trust of Oregon supports programs to deepen Oregonian’s understanding of the many benefits of our forests. We depend on you, and other “forest-fans” like you, to make these good things happen.

Founded in 1999, we brought the community together to build the Tillamook Forest Center, where visitors learn about the Tillamook Forest’s first inhabitants, the disastrous wildfires of early last century, as well as the work of the Oregon Department of Forestry to manage our state forests. Following this success – with Community support – we’ve helped to:

  • Construct the Education Pavilion adjacent to the Tillamook Forest Center, which hosts thousands of students annually

  • Extend the Wilson River Trail and Peninsula Trail on the Tillamook Forest

  • Implement visitor-use monitoring on Black Rock Mountain Bike area in Polk County

  • Following the historic 2020 Labor Day fires, establish an experimental forest management area along a recreation trail on the Santiam State Forest

We are committed to supporting programs for life-long learning and enhancing everyone's ability to explore and enjoy all kinds of outdoor recreation in Oregon's state forests. We believe these forests should be appreciated, valued, and available—not just for today but also for future generations.

And that's where you come in – your support is crucial to making this vision come true.
